Counselors in Training program is designed for youth ages 14-17yrs that are interested in working with children and getting involved with Summer Camp. To participate: candidates must submit a CIT application, and a reference letter from a coach/teacher or other non-relative. Ideal candidates are outgoing, enthusiastic, responsible and have a dedication to children. Ideal candidates should also be able to commit to the 7 week program and will be required to attend pre-camp orientations on June 26th & June 27th. We will begin accepting application packets March 3rd, 2014. All materials must be submitted to the Parks and Recreation Office by no later than May 1st, 2014.
Once all materials have been received and the deadline closes, candidates will be contacted for an interview at the Parks and Recreation Office. We only have limited numbers of spaces for the CIT program so unfortunately not all candidates may be admitted. Once a candidate has been admitted they will be required to register for the program for $125 for the entire summer.
The program will include leadership training, guidance, and experience working hands on with children in a group supervised by a Head Counselor. CIT’s will learn new games and activities to teach children. They are responsible for assisting and maintaining a safe and FUN environment for all campers. Program is a lot of fun and is a terrific resume builder!
Special Note: CIT’s that perform well may be given preference in the hiring process when Counselor positions become available and the CIT is of working age.
