The Water Safety Instructor Aide class is offered every spring for enthusiastic individuals ages 12yrs & older who are interested in gaining knowledge of water safety and how swimming lessons are taught. The course is a great introduction to the American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor course that requires students to be 16yrs & older. Ideal candidates for the WSI Aide course possess a great deal of responsibility, maturity, enthusiasm for instruction and the ability to work with children in the water.

The course will include on land instruction as well as hands on training in the water so please bring your bathing suit to every class. WSI Aide students will assist certified WSIs’ instruct their swimming lessons on Saturdays. Top candidates may be asked to volunteer throughout the year and/or for the summer Aquatics Program at Rockwell & Page Pool.

The class will be instructed by Raelynne Andrews, a Head Lifeguard for the city of Bristol, who is a certified Water Safety Instructor Trainer.

Fee for the seven week class is $45.00.

Please note: Although this course will not result in official certification, students that successfully complete WSI Aide and who later become certified may be given preference in the hiring process when job opportunities exist.
