The City of Bristol Department of Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services (BPRYCS) is pleased to announce the promotion of Daniel Stowe to the role of Aquatics Coordinator. The Aquatics Coordinator assists the Aquatics Supervisor with the operations of the year-round indoor Dennis Malone Aquatics Center, Rockwell Pool and Page Park Pool. This includes assisting with development of pool schedules, managing an extensive learn to swim program, recreational swim team, water fitness classes, special events and rentals. The Aquatics Coordinator assists with scheduling, training and management of over 100 aquatics staff including lifeguards, water safety instructors, and front desk attendants.

After serving as an Occupational Therapy Assistant at Evergreen Health Care Center since 2014, Daniel is excited to return to his roots as an aquatic professional. Daniel got his start around the water growing up in Aruba where he experienced a variety of cultures and languages at a young age. He began work in Bristol as a Water Safety Instructor, teaching swim lessons at the Dennis Malone Aquatics Center in September 2023. Prior to coming to Bristol, Daniel was the Assistant Aquatics Director for the Burbank Family YMCA and a Head Lifeguard and Swim Instructor at Cornerstone Aquatics Center in West Hartford. Daniel is a certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard Instructor, as well as a former Certified Pool Operator. Daniel obtained his Bachelor’s of Science from Springfield College in 2007, majoring in Youth Development with a minor in Art and Outdoor Leadership.

Superintendent Dr. Josh Medeiros stated, “We were really impressed with Daniel’s enthusiasm, depth of knowledge and experience, and his fresh ideas that I believe will help move our aquatics programs into the future. Daniel is also bi-lingual and fluent in Spanish which will help enhance our customer experience across all 3 facilities.”

Aquatics Supervisor Raelynne Andrews remarked, “"I look forward to working closely with Daniel to strengthen our organization and expand our programming with the experience, skills and positive outlook he brings to the table."

In anticipation of his new role, Daniel said, “Not only am I excited to join the BPRYCS team, I am eager to grow and share my knowledge in service to the greater community!”

Daniel begins his new role on Monday April 15, 2024 with an annual salary of $63,140.
